Necromancy in the Fifth Sneak Peek

A brief teaser of Chapter 3:

I pulled the extra batch of biscotti out of the oven and sat the tray on the cooling rack before heading out of the kitchen and into my small coffee shop, preparing to open for the day. I'd owned the coffee shop for just over two years now and the daily start-up still left me feeling like a zombie.

I hoped that, someday in the future, I'd be able to afford to hire an employee, but so far it was only me. I simply couldn't afford to. The truth was, if I even paid myself minimum wage at the moment, I wouldn't make ends meet. The upkeep on my small coffee shop was high – far higher than I'd expected it to be when I'd dared to make the place a reality – and at the end of every month I was barely keeping the place in the black.

I wasn't one to complain though, businesses took time to get started and made profitable... If I had to survive on Top Ramen until then, well so be it.

But, the start of every morning was still a pain – having to wake up at three in the morning so I could get everything baked for the days, including cookies, blondies, muffins, scones, bars, cinnamon rolls, and biscottis. It made for a long ass morning every day and that was before I got the simple drip coffee going or opened the doors for the day.

Busy

Just a quick update, I wanted to write today, but I unfortunately got really busy. Unfortunately life happens and today was one such day. Normally I'd post a cute picture or a quote or some quick recommendations, but today has left me exhausted and I can't think of anything to post.

I'm going to try to get some stuff written still tonight though.

My Position On...

So, unlike some writers, I actually more pms and emails than I get reviews. I don't know why, but I always have. And I get a lot of similar questions. So I'm taking a few of the questions that I get asked most often and I'm answering them here.

1) Who is Bella going to end up with in (xyz)? Most of my stories tell you from the getgo. The Hunter is going to be ExB (eventually), It's a Twin Thing is going to be ExBxB, Necromancy in the Fifth is ExB, RR is technically ExB, The Differences Between Fantasy and Reality is BxM. As for The Emotional Roller Coaster Of Life, forget it, I'm not telling. If you've read the first 170+ chapters than you can wait the remaining 40 to find out. 

2) What is my position on cheating? First of all, this isn't any of your business. But, I'm going to give the very long winded answer. As I've mentioned a couple of times, I have a major in psychology, and I remember when I was in college getting my degree, the professor that was teaching one of the courses did several seminars. One of which, was about the nature of cheating. I remember when I went to this seminar and that his very first statement was "Cheating is human nature." He went on to explain that on a scientific level, unlike owls, eagles, voles, wolves, skinks, and certain primates, humans are not monogamous - we do not mate for life. I, like many people there, was righteously outraged. I was nineteen, in love, and at the time, I would have sworn that the man who later went on to be my first husband was going to be the only man I loved for the rest of my life. For those that don't know, he died almost eight and a half years ago and I've been remarried for almost two years now. Though at the time I went to that seminar I was very upset by what was said, it has stuck with me for years, and looking back I'm not a hundred percent sure that professor was wrong. Does that mean I agree with cheating. Well, it doesn't matter. It's up to you rather you feel it's right or not. My opinion is my own.

3) This is actually a paraphrase of several different question I've been asked, but it should work for the purposes of it. Why do I chose to write about incest, cheating, rape, abuse, etc? Because they all happen. They're all real. They're all part of life. It's the same reason I write about emotional development and many other things. If you're looking for an all sunshine and roses story that is pure fluff with nothing real in it - I will never be that author.

4) How do I come up with my stories? My head. No, seriously, my head. For a more detailed answer, go to the label Inspiration, which details my inspiration for my stories (and a couple other things).

5) How dare you be unfaithful to Twilight and write about Life and Death? There are so many ways I can answer to this. But I'm gonna limit it to two. First, my choice. Second, no one is forcing you to read it. 

Writing

I'm working on chapter 9 of RR and starting to work on chapter 3 of Necromancy (hoping to get back to Forever Protector, R&A alternate reality by the end of the day).

A brief teaser of Chapter 9 - Descent to Purgatory:

The Los Angeles Community Hospital proved difficult to get into as they had to wait until evening, after the sun set, to actually leave there car and go inside.

But they'd finally made their way in... and now Alice wasn't sure what to do.

She knew exactly what room Bella was in, and she'd told her family where to go, but she'd turned and walked the other way.

In some ways Alice felt bad for her choice to walk away - not only from her family but from the only human she'd ever thought of as a friend as well – but the truth was she simply couldn't handle it. Often times her family thought of he ability as a gift, and she wouldn't deny that there had been times in the past where she had felt the same, but the truth was that it was a curse.

Because, in truth, if she'd never had her ability, she never would have seen the car wreck back over six years ago, never would have had the chance to form emotions for the human who would have died at that point... never would have known the wrenching pain she felt now.

She wouldn't already know what she'd find if she decided to go into that hospital room. After all, she could already see it in her mind.

RR Info

RR is winding down. I know that will shock quite a few people, but it's the truth.

So I want to talk just a little about RR. I'm going to be honest, when I first did the one-shot, in spite of the fact that I advised I might continue it someday which was why I was leaving it with an open ending, I never intended to continue it - because in my mind, I truly saw her as dead.

And then the reviews hit demanding more... followed by the dms. 

And I caved. 

So I had to rework my mind to allow me to continue the story. 

The original plan that came to me, is more or less what you see. Originally, I planned to write every chapter just like I have, with Alice's side in the present and Bella's in the past. Until they collided. Now here's where the plan fell off course. Because, when I first saw the story in my head I was going to draw out the suspense a lot more. I was actually thinking something like thirty chapters... But by the time I wrote about three chapters I knew it wasn't going to happen that way. The story as a whole is so painful to write that extending it into a full length story just isn't possible.

As such there are only about two or three chapters and an epilogue left.

Now I will say this: the last chapter and the epilogue were always going to be exactly what you will read, it just would have taken a lot longer to get there.

And for those that want the HEA... it will be part of the epilogue but it's not a sunshine and roses type HEA.

One-Shots

So there are a few anonymous One-Shot competitions currently ongoing and my head suddenly decided to explode with ideas for them. So I'm going to be writing a few.

This may cause me to delay chapter writing for a couple of days, but rest assured it shouldn't affect it by much. 

As these contest are anonymous, I can't tell you which ones I'm entering, but I want people to know that while this may delay me a little, I'm not forgetting my normal stories. It's simply a matter of muse dictation. 

My Position on Writing a Mafia Fic

I get asked about this at least once every couple of months or more, and that question is "Do you plan to (or will you) write a mafia fic?"

Here's my official answer to it. NO.

Now I'm going to elaborate on this. I may someday write a fic around the mafia but it isn't going to be what most of the people who ask me are really looking for. I am not ever going to write a fic about the mafia which glorifies or romanticizes mafia lifestyle.

Now if I was to write a mafia fic it would likely be a lgbt story, showing the price of being gay or lesbian while being in the mafia, and no matter what it would end in tragedy.

I'm not ruling that type of story out for someday in the future but it's not something that is going to happen any time soon.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't take any issue with other people who write mafia fics and have even read a few in my time. I've also read mafia books and watched shows and movies. It's just not something I ever see myself writing.

Tax Day

So, for those who live in the USA, today is tax day. Which means if you work and haven't filed your taxes yet, today is the last day to do it without getting in trouble (unless you requested an extension). 

This day, for a lot of people, is often synonymous with hell day. Whether you're the person who waited until the last minute to file or you are CPA who is about to get bombarded. 

But technically Tax Day is a holiday here in the United States and for those of you who planned ahead there are dozens of business that offer specials on this day..

I'm not going to post a list of all the places, but a lot of chain restaurants and fast food joint are offering reduced or even free specials today.

Throwing in the Towel

I've had several people ask where the next chapter of Rebirth and Affliction is.

I want to post this here. I assure everyone I am working on it, but when I say this chapter is proving difficult to write I meant that quite literally. I have just shy of 2000 words written so I should have it out by this weekend, but for tonight I am throwing in the towel. As writing goes, it's proving to be extremely difficult and as such I'm just not able to get it out as quick as I'd like or as I know my readers want.

For now, a mini-teaser:

I looked at the shiny... thing that was parked in the drive. I supposed, if I squinted my eyes and tilted my head to the side, it sort of looked like a pick up – emphasis on sort of.

“Just what is it exactly?” I asked, barely masking my horror at the sight of it.

Happy Siblings Day

Throughout the year we have a ton of holidays that celebrate family; Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, Aunt and Uncle's Day, Cousin's Day, etc etc. 

But today is a today for anybody who has that special tormentor in their life - you know who I'm talking about. It's the most interesting of familial bonds because siblings are both friends and enemies. So if you have one (or more) be sure to wish them a Happy Sibling's Day today.

Writing Rebirth and Affliction

Trying to work on Rebirth and Affliction today, but it's going like:

MAJOR PROBLEM

So here's the deal. As of this morning my flash drive where I stored everything, including all my stories, almost all my photos, dozens of started works, a whole bunch of personal files, and hundreds of pdfs (both fanfics and real fics) has been damaged.

I don't know what I'm going to do at this point, though I think I have a back up drive somewhere that hasn't had an update in like two years or more, but at least it might get me back some of my core old info.

If I don't have that drive than I'm likely very screwed.

At this point my Original fictions are on an indefinite hiatus until I can figure this out and I'm not sure what's going to happen with most of my fanfics.

I'm sorry for how this will effect my readers.

Updates to Grammar in Stories.

I just announced this on one of my stories, but I'm putting it here as well. I'm going to be slowly going through almost all my stuff with Grammarly Premium and as chapters/one-shots/etc are fully edited by it I am going to be updating them on my posts. So some minor changes will be ahead, but for most of it most people won't notice.

There will be few exceptions of course.

To start with, anything posted on here, my blog, is rough and generally completely unedited - that includes blog exclusive stories.

The other exceptions are as follows:

And Esme's Fate was fully beta'd by qjmom on March 16th, 2010, and though there are some changes I'd like to make because it's too much work to trade out an edition on Twilighted, the story is going to remain the same on all places it's posted.

Serial Black Widow was beta'd by SunflowerFran, Any Given Day and Schrodinger's Cat were both beta'd by monica03, Never Enough  was beta'd by both Kimmydonn and pineandapple, and April Prank was beta'd by both darkgoddess09 and SueBob. As these stories were beta'd, I'm also not putting these through Grammarly Premium. They are all as is, where is, stories.

The final few are my poetry which includes Twilight Fanfic Poetry (which include three individual poems at the moment), Twilight Saga Acrostic Poems (which there are nine of), None, and He Loved Me. As they are poems, they don't follow typical grammar laws so there's no point in putting them through Grammarly.

Rebirth and Affliction Sneak Peek

Another brief teaser of Chapter 16 - Epoch:

My brow furrowed when a smell hit me which I wasn't expecting.

It wasn't necessarily because it was a wolf, so much as which wolf it was. I stepped away from the tree and turned in the direction the scent.

“Sarah? Why are you here?”

A wolf separated itself from its hiding place behind a tree before there was a silent vibration in the air I recognized immediately. I spun away instantaneously. I'd seen Jules naked more than once with the way she'd shifted between wolf and human freely around me, but Jules was sixteen where Sarah was only fourteen and I had no desire to see her naked.

I heard the shuffling of what sounded like soft cloth and smelled the scent of cotton on the air but didn't turn around.

“What gave me away?” A slightly wounded voice asked.

I snorted. “You smell carried to me but even if it hadn't, Sarah, once I'd started to pay better attention I would have recognized your heartbeat and known a wolf was nearby.”

“Seriously? My heartbeat?”

I rolled my eyes, though she couldn't see it. “You know enough about vampires by now – and me specifically – to know how astute our senses are.”

She sighed and I knew without looking that she was likely pouting.

Lemons

As things in rated M stories go, in fanfiction lemons are almost expected, but while I can write them and have in the past - I find them awkward as hell to write usually

And that awkwardness comes through when I write them. Occasionally, if I'm inspired to write it, I can be extremely eloquent, but for the most part I don't find them to be necessary.

It's why the vast majority of my rated M stories do not (and likely never will) have lemons.

There are exceptions, of course, but I prefer not to write them which is why they're scarce (unless you're reading Twin Thing which be exception uno)

Why I Like Bella

So, I've been considering writing this for awhile, as in months, but I've put it off again and again because I've wanted to do justice to this post.

I have several people who read my stories who are legitimately hater of Bella. I've had people tell me she's shallow, that the only thing she wanted was immortality, that she was too plain, etc, etc. 

I could, and actually have, argued on each point I've been given, but I'm not going to do that here. Instead, I'm just going to come out point-blank. Bella is a one-dimensional character, and I know a lot of people will disagree with me on that, but the thing is that Bella's emotions are almost never shown the Twilight Saga, her logic behind her decisions is completely missing, and anything that could have truly allowed a person to see full depth into Bella isn't there. 

But I'm not saying that's a bad thing. In fact, I'm relatively sure it is why she is so compelling as a character. Because she is so... Well... plain. Almost anyone can find a connection to her. A lot of her logic and drive, etc is missing which allows people to reach their own conclusions about her as a character and it allows readers to read between the lines in such a way that they can imagine their own logic. 

And it's not just Bella, by the way, it is basically that way for every character in the story. 

Because of the way the saga is written, there are huge gaps where you're left having to guess for yourself as to what really happened, as to why such a thing was done in whatever way it was done, and more.

Now, I will say this, if the books were supposed to show every nuance and be completely revealed than the saga was really poorly written, but if this was exactly what Meyer actually wanted - if she wanted people to analyze and think for themselves and ultimately reach their own conclusions - than she is brilliant, possibly one of the greatest authors to ever exist. And I don't know which one it is. I'm also not sure it matters.

But, to get back to the point, it is that plainness of her that makes me want to write about her and it's also why I don't usually label my stories as ooc, because depending on how a person reads between those lines for Bella's motivations, my Bella's truly aren't ooc.
