A Bit About My Thirst Submissions

By the time this posts, the results for the Thirst Contest will have been posted, though as I write this, it is still several days away. I am writing this completely unaware as to if I will get lucky and win a prize or if that will be another day of bad luck - which, given the way the voting was set up, I suspect the latter.

For the record, had I known going into the contest that the only thing the readers would be able to vote for were the specialty awards and not the traditional top three, I wouldn't have even entered.

Here's a bit about why.

Anyone who reads my stories can pretty much safely say that I tend to write outside the norm. I'm not afraid to make people hate me and I don't write a story for a contest just to go the standard route. For the record, if you don't know what the standard is, it's an E/B HEA romance... typically with minimal to no angst. That's not me. Over the years I've had people call me the queen of angst, and though I will write E/B, they have to earn that HEA if I decide to give it to them. More often than not, I don't even bother.

Once in a rare while one of my contest entries will actually get a popularity award, even though my stories aren't the standard. And when that happens it makes me certain I did something right. I actually impressed people enough that they voted for my Lauren story (Lost But Not Forgotten) or my Julie story (For the Dogs) or my Victoria story (Tenetur Per Sanguine). For me, awards like this are extremely satisfying. And unfortunately, with the way this contest is set up, there's almost no award the readers can vote on that works with either of my two stories.

The two stories I entered into the Thirst Contest were Take It Back and Imprint of Yore, two very opposite stories.

So, let's talk about Take It Back:

A lot of the people that reviewed this story during the contest have asked for me to continue it. I want people to understand, that I wrote a complete story, and I have no intention of continuing it. I gave the E/B lovers a glimpse of potential hope, but in my mind I don't see a continued story ending in anything other than tragedy.

Bella has lost everything. She's been through literal, spiritual, and mental hell. And there's one of two ways to look at it. Either everything she's been through is her fault or it's all Edward's fault. You can pick which way you see it. Either way, there's no potential for an HEA, not in this storyline.

With that being said, maybe if I'm ever feeling especially bitter, I might continue it, but understand the ending I see in my mind is not a pretty one.

In the mean time, I've never been opposed to people taking my fanfics and using them as a starting point for their own - as long as they give me credit for my part in it. So, if somebody wanted to write a continuation ending in an HEA, they could, but it wouldn't be me.

-------------

Then, there's Imprint of Yore:

Of the two, this is the clear underdog, none of the reviews so far have asked for a continuation, and the review count on the contest is disproportionately low. It having the second lowest count of eighteen stories.

And yet, I'm drawn to continue this, I want to see the next section. I want Edward and Jacob to find some sort of happy union. I see rocks and bumps and hills and mountains to climb in my mind. And I want it on paper. I want people to be able to read this story.

So I do intend to continue this. In fact, I see this as at least a trilogy, with rough paralleling to the original Twilight saga. I don't know if it will be a success amongst my readers, but I intend to go with it, anyway.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Quarantine Edition Submissions

I submitted two different stories to A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Quarantine Edition. Neither of them were winners of anything, but one I am planning to turn into a full length story in the future.

I submitted Life in a Bubble, which is a completed one-shot. It is available on both ffn and adf.

And I submitted Letters and Barkeeps, which will be turned into a full length story in the future, but currently the one-shot is available on both ffn and adf.

A Bit About a Future Piece

Introducing a Twilight/Elfquest crossover. The Moon's Journey will be, for the time in question, a one-shot. I don't know how long this one-shot will be, though I'm assuming it will be over ten thousand words. The banner above feature Bella as an elf – specifically a wolfrider  – and her wolf, Clearwater. Though I may slip in a couple of other Twilight characters, the vast majority of the characters I will pull from will be the wolfriders in Elfquest.

This story is inspired, in part, because it's a crossover that hasn't been done, and because I need a bit of a different ending after the bittersweet end to The Final Quest in Elfquest. Those that have read the comics will know exactly what I mean.
__________________________________________

I don't know exactly when this story will be posted as I'm working on it between my continued work on Rebirth and Affliction: Eclipse Reimagined and it's extras, Necromancy in the Fifth, and my current drabble, We Saw the World End on a Tuesday. (Other works are on hold until inspiration strikes to work on them)

Crossover Plague

Recently, as I've watched some shows, a multitude of crossover ideas have been plaguing my mind. I'm trying to avoid them, but they keep on trying to get my attention in spite of my efforts to ignore them.

So I'm writing them down here, hoping that will get them to shut up.

First is one that has been plaguing me for a while (one I've mentioned before). That's The Heirs - Renesmee Cullen, unaware of the fact that Jacob imprinted on her is sent away to go to high school at Auradon Prep in the rural kingdom of Auradon. When she meets one of the other new students, Jay from the Isle of the Lost, will he be the love of her existence? A momentary crush? or a newfound enemy? :: A Twilight/Descendants story.

Then there's a new obsession of mine, and that's a one-shot about Cheryl Blossom from Riverdale moving to Forks. I still don't have a title, but I so want to write it.

I've also been thinking about doing a Twilight/Veronica Mars crossover, though I suspect it would be a difficult one to pull off.

And I've had a reader of mine specifically ask me to do a HP/Twilight crossover. It's not something I'd normally write, but I like to challenge myself, so it may happen eventually.

Finally, not a crossover, but I really want to write a one-shot or short story about Ursula, and her more altruistic acts, from The Little Mermaid

Weird Fic Ideas

So, for the most part, it's more angst than anything else when I write, but occasionally other ideas start swimming in my head. These ideas below are some of them that are currently floating around. I don't know when I'll start writing any of them (or if in one case) but I just want to put them down for now.

One Hundred Lives

A story about a hundred different people that all live in the same town. The design in my mind is almost as if each chapter was an individual featurette or one-shot that focused on a single character's story. This is actually something I could almost see written with multiple people on a joint account and everyone writes specific character(s). ... Not sure I'll ever actually do this.

In the Back Alleys

An all animal drabble fic, that will be fairly comedic featuring Edward the cat prowling the alleys and Bella the dog chasing him amongst the other characters. My intention is to write it completely before posting.

Of Fairies and Pixie Dust

Another more comedic tale. It's going to be a short story that will last no more than about five to ten chapters. It will be a f/f tale between Bella and Alice as fairies who get high on pixie dust during the mating ritual after they discover they are mates. Once again, I want to write this one in full before posting.

Dearly Beloved

A o/s or short inspired by the song, Dearly Beloved by Faith Hill. As with the nature of the song, the story should be more amusing than angsty.

and finally

If Dragons Could Fly

Still determining the details of this fic, but once again it shouldn't be an angst story.

The Workplace Teaser

I have an upcoming one-shot in the works called The Workplace, a Fred/Tanya tale, here's a brief teaser of the opening:

Fred wasn't the type of guy who got out all that much. He woke up every morning, took a piss, showered, brushed his teeth, got dressed, and headed into work at the high rise to take customer service calls. At the end of his eight hour work day, which often kept him closer to twelve, he'd head home to eat and then sleep. From there, it was simply a case of rinse and repeat. Even on his days he was supposed to have off, he was usually in the high rise working.

It wasn't a glamorous life but it was his, and it paid the bills. At the end of the day, that was main thing that mattered to him.

Other people were in it for the glory or the adventure, but he was simply the type of guy who liked to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. Sure, someday, somehow, he intended to eventually run the company he'd worked at as an agent for the last decade – everyone needed a long term goal. But he was realist, and it was all about the day to day for him.

Fred was the kind of guy most people considered to be strictly average, even though he was taller than most. He stood at six foot four with unkempt light brown hair – no matter the amount of product he put in it – hazel eyes, a face a little too oblong, and the tiniest amount of fat. As a general rule, he wasn't handsome, but he wasn't bad looking either, he was just... average.

Like many guys who fell under that same qualification, his hand was his best friend. Women typically weren't interested in him, preferring the type of guy he'd never be. He wasn't the one who'd don a leather jacket and sit atop a chopper just to give a girl a ride, nor was he the type to whips and chains – that was more of Emmett's thing, his big brother.

It wasn't that he wasn't interesting if someone took a chance to know him. It was simply that no one ever bothered to try.

In all honesty, his last girlfriend been almost two years ago, and Bree had taken off the instant their relationship had gotten serious.

Forever Protector Teaser

Currently Forever Protector is the favorite on the poll. I'm not sure how soon I'll get it written, but below is a small teaser of it.

There was a constant pull in the back of my mind reminding me of everything I'd lost, all because of my own stubbornness, but I constantly pushed it aside. It was anything but easy, however, after over thirty years in La Push with Embrianna and Jules it was my norm.

They were only two wolves from the original pack of ten still shifting. The last hold out other than them had been Leland and he'd shifted to his wolf form and run off into the forest almost two years ago.

Not that there weren't other shifters because there were. Samantha's oldest two daughters were now pack members, along with Paula's daughter, and Jaelyn's twin boys. It seemed that as long as a threat was in the area, shifters continued to turn... and with me living in the little cabin on the outskirts of La Push as the first line of defense, there was always a threat in the area. Me.

I smelled Jules before she wrapped her arms around my waist and put her chin on my shoulder, checking to see what I was looking at.

"How's Leila?" I murmured.

"She's a fifteen year old brand new shifter. So she's volatile and angry and feeling betrayed. She hates both of us and I can't blame her."

I sighed, but I couldn't really disagree with that assessment. "So she knows everything then?"

"Yeah, every bitter detail."

Serial Black Widow Teaser

A small sneak peek at my future one-shot, Serial Black Widow:

“My name is Bella Montgomery, and I'm a murderer.”

It was almost funny for me to say those words aloud, but they were true. The first person I'd ever killed had been Embry Call – of course, given that he hadn't been human, calling that first killing a murder was debatable.

But I was getting ahead of myself, or possibly behind myself, because I was currently looking in my bathroom mirror and carefully applying the makeup that would make me look far more heart broken than I actually was, because I had a funeral to go to.

Ten years ago, I'd been a normal teenage girl, and I'd been infatuated with love – or possibly just the idea of it – but then my heart had been torn out by the man, the vampire, that I'd fallen for. In the months that had followed his leaving, I'd drowned. Eventually I'd given up on the idea of living and went to find a place that had once been special for both the man I had loved and myself – our meadow – wanting to find a place to die in peace.

The Hunter Opening - Returning to Fanfiction Soon.

The Hunter

Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight as I am not Stephenie Meyer. Since I am not her, I make no money from any fanfictions I post. I also don't own the Evernight Series by Claudia Gray which is part of the inspiration behind this story.

AN: I originally started writing this story in 2010 but removed it in 2015, it was only about a third of the way done. This was always a story that I wanted to finish but after awhile I wasn't a hundred percent happy with the direction I was taking it. So while this is a re-post... it's also going to be a rewrite.

Chapter 1 – The Return

It had been four years since my last visit. This wasn’t a visit though, this was business.

Nineteen years ago my mother had enrolled in Forks high, because she had been on a mission. A vampire had been stocking Port Angeles, and it was my mother’s first personal mission. She had been seventeen when she had enrolled as a senior, but had gotten in over her head, and not with the vampire. We could fight vampires; that was easy, once you learned how. She couldn’t, however, combat young love. She had prematurely gotten married, ended up pregnant, and I had been the product.

I, Bella Swan, had been a mistake, an accident. I had had it drilled into me a thousand times; I never should have been born, at least not then. My mother had always planned that she would eventually have a child, but she had always believed it would be the product between another hunter, never this. I was never meant to exist. Not that it mattered, I did, end of story.

My mother, Renee, was one of the strongest hunters in our group, and her husband, Phil, was the leader. I was on my first private mission, back in Forks. My father himself had called and told us of the vampires in Forks. It had been Phil, who had decided to send me here, and I had to admit that I was excited; my first true vampire hunt.

My father, Charlie, the chief of police, didn’t know that I was being sent out, he wouldn’t know until I knocked on the door. I knew he would freak when he realized that I was the hunter of choice.

I was driving my black Pontiac Solstice, which had been a birthday gift to me on my sixteenth birthday from my mom, to Forks. It was probably going to be the sweetest vehicle that the town of Forks had ever seen.

I only had three bags and my purse with me. My purse consisted of my wallet with all three of my fake IDs, my papers for school enrollment, my cash, my credit card, my cell phone, my IPOD, some basic makeup, a small vial of Calts Oil, and one tampon. In my first bag I had all the clothes and toiletry items that I needed. In my second bag were my laptop, and all the personal items that I took wherever I went. And in the last bag was my hunting gear.

Now vampires weren’t like the old myths tell you. Vampires wouldn’t burn in the sun, instead they sparkled. Holy water wouldn’t work, crosses wouldn’t work, stakes only work to kindle a fire, and forget everything else that you have ever heard. A vampire was like rock, so a bullet would do no good. They didn’t shy away from onions and garlic, and their eyes could be black, red, pink, or gold.

There was only one way to kill a vampire, burn it to ash, and spread the ashes. The only good vampire was a dead vampire. So no matter how handsome or sexy a vampire looked it was deadly.

Vampires didn’t have heartbeats; they didn’t have blood running through their system, and technically they didn’t need blood to survive.

Vampires were its, there were no he’s or she’s. No matter what sex they had when they were human, they were no longer human, and therefore no longer had a sex to mention.

A vampire didn’t have a conscience or morals, it wasn’t possible. Vampires could be convincing that they had emotions, but they didn't have those either.

Our hunting group specialized in vampires, but we knew of the other creatures out there, and we never lost sight of that. Our group was called Rose based off of Phil’s great great grandmother back when she had started our group.

I knew my father wasn’t going to like the fact that they had sent me, but we were currently short on numbers, and fifteen year olds were going out on hunts by themselves currently. We had been seriously depleted of manpower when one of our hideouts had been burnt to the ground with six men, seven women, and twelve children burned alive. The police said it was an accident but we all knew the truth – the soulless bastards burned one of our safe havens to the ground, and it only renewed my faith that we were doing the right thing.

On my left ring finger was a small diamond ring that I would remove before I started going to school. My fiancĂ©, Jeod, was currently in Oregon on his own assignment. I loved him, but it wasn’t in the way that people should get married for. He was only two years older than me and we grew up together, we had known each other our whole lives, but we were like brother and sister. Our marriage was more of a way to take one for the team, as less and less of the females chose to get pregnant. It took too much time away from our work to be pregnant for nine months and then raise a child for the next few years. Our group was slowly dying out though, so Jeod and I decided to marry and have a child. It was a mutual decision, and at least we loved each other in some way.

I pulled to a stop in front of my father’s house. It was the same paint job that it had had the last time I was here and I was shocked to feel a sense of relief. I hadn’t been in a place that I could even begin to consider as a home in almost a year, and though this wasn’t really a home either, it was the closest thing I had.

I got out and grabbed my bags before walking to the door and ringing the doorbell.

A moment later Charlie opened the door, his eyes widened. “Bella, what are you doing here?”

“You’re the one that needed a hunter, well here I am,” I said acerbically.

The Emotional Roller Coaster Of Life Outtakes

As I'm now almost thirty chapters into The Emotional Roller Coaster Of Life, I'm starting to realize there are some scenes that I can't go into in the story that I'd love to show in more detail. So far there are two that really stick out in my mind.

First

The Date - The scene showing the epic first date between Rosalie and Emmett from the time they first sat down to eat, to their night in bed together.

Second

William Charles Black - A story showing the happiest point in Bella and Jacob's life from when their son was born.

----------------------------

Are there any scenes you'd want to see that happened in the five years between the prologue and first chapter of the book?

Please comment with what you'd like to see if you do.

Ideas

So as is relatively typical for me, I have a slew of ideas in my head. Some of those ideas have to do with stories I'm already working on... but some are other ideas entirely. Many of my ideas are one-shots or short stories, and some are longer stories. I'm hoping by writing this post that I can put these ideas on the sidelines for the time being.

My Ideas

  1. The Wandmaker's Wife - A pre-Harry Potter canon style tale from the eyes of Garrick Olivander's wife dealing with the creation of the wands, the birth of their children, the death of their daughter and more. :: Possibly a one-shot or maybe a short novella
  2. The Heirs - Renesmee Cullen, unaware of the fact that Jacob imprinted on her is sent away to go to high school at Auradon Prep in the rural kingdom of Auradon. When she meets one of the other new students, Jay from the Isle of the Lost, will he be the love of her existence? A momentary crush? or a newfound enemy? :: A Twilight/Descendants story
  3. Serial Black Widow - A New Moon AU where Embry imprinted on Bella but Bella was too broken from Edward leaving and ended up betraying the ultimate trust between Imprinter and Imprintee. Set years later, Bella has become a murderer of the darkest kind. What will her future hold? :: A one-shot
There are several other titles that I also have floating in my head with no specific plot line behind them. Those titles include Queen of None, If Dragons Could Fly, Catered Death, Moon of New, and A New Faith.

Finally, I'm contemplating going back to working on The Hunter.
