Sex, Blood, Revenge (and Everything in Between) Sneak Peek

A brief teaser of Chapter 4 ~ Capitol Punishment:

I can still remember the moments after the gray smoke had cleared. My father had already joined my side so he had been safe. But across the field where Callidra had been bound, the two guards at her side hadn’t fared nearly as well.

I can still remember the anger in her eyes as she had looked at me. Callidra’s hands had been covered in crimson as blood ran down her mouth and chin, dripping onto her shirt. The heads had been literally ripped from the bodies of her two guards. It was the most grotesque site I had ever seen.

She ran away after showing us what she had done. In the next months Carlyn’s ashes were found in an urn with the words, ‘Though shalt not suffer a witch to live - Exodus 22:18,’ inscribed on the urn. In the next month the body of Cranus had been discovered. His head was still attached meaning he had been starved to death which was perhaps the most inhumane way for a vampire to die. It would have meant three months of no blood. Plus it was obvious he had been beaten and tortured the whole time that she had starved him. A sign had been wrapped around his body saying, ‘May there be blood in hell.’

Within the next year all eight of the remaining guards had died. Victor and I remained alive however. Other vampires slowly started dying. They didn’t have it bad though as it was clear none of them had suffered. All of them had had their heads severed, clean cuts. It was clear they hadn’t really been in any pain. She had shown them mercy when she killed them.
