Forever Protector Final Teaser - A Rebirth and Affliction Alternate Reality

Back a while ago, I started working on this particular Alternate Reality, but things happened (my flash drive broke) and the end result was that I lost almost all of it, except for the two teasers I'd posted on this blog a while ago (you can use the tag, Teaser, or the tag, Alternate Reality, if you want to view those). I've finally started reworking it, and while I'm not sure it's identical to what it was originally, I'm happy with what I've written.

For now, I'm offering one final Teaser to this Alternate Reality.

"Anyway, I need to go talk to the Cullens in person. I owe it to them to explain my decision in person.”

“You owe them nothing.” Jules' scowl was pronounced. “They were the ones who screwed you over.”

“Yes, I do. They gave up a lot for what they thought of me to be to Edythe. The fact that it turned out to be untrue is unimportant. Don't worry, I'll be back.”

I got up from where I was sitting in the sand next to her and sped off.

The run through the forest was one I'd made many times before, back when the Cullens had abandoned me. However, I couldn't help but wonder if this would be my last time making the trip.

Edythe met me outside of the house, her voice solemn. “Archie's told me your future is solidly black – that nothing I can say or do, as far as he can see, will change that.”

“They need me here, and it turns out that when I put my mind into being a protector with them that I'm quite good at it. Besides, we both know your family doesn't need me.”

“That's not true. I need you. I'll always need you.”

I smiled, wondering if she heard the rough edge in her voice which read as untrue to me. “Maybe some part of you still needs the human boy you started to fall for before I was turned, but I think it's past time we both accept that I'm not him. I've changed in a lot more ways than just going from having a beating heart to not.”

“When you left, you promised you'd someday come back, Beau.”

“I did.” I walked away from her, looking out into the forest. “It wasn't a lie. I had every intention of coming back to you. But I think we both know why I can't. When we were with the Denalis, you and Taavi were a thousands times more comfortable – more natural – together than you and I ever were. Honestly, there was more familiarity with you and Ivan, and you and Kirill, than ever with me. And most recently, I saw you briefly with a redhead here.”

“I've known all of the Denalis for more than seventy years, Beau. Of course, there's a familiarity with them. Even Magnus, I've known for more than sixty.”

It put a name with the man I'd seen. I ignored the implication that was being insecure and foolish. I knew what I'd seen, and I'd had plenty of time to think it over.

“I want you to be happy, Edythe, and I don't think I'm ever going to be what gives that to you.”

“You're wrong!”

It would be beyond easy to believe her, but I could see the dangerous loop that would lead to. I knew now, no matter how much I loved her, she clearly didn't feel the same. “I've got to get back to La Push.”

“Beau... if you change your mind, please come back to me.”

In spite of myself, I muttered, “Who knows, maybe someday.”

Then I ran away.

Teaser 2 for Babies at the Boarder

It's been three hundred years since World War III. The remnants of that humanity; of vehicles, electricity, computers, and so much more can be found all around, but the world I know doesn't actually have use of any of that technology.

Three hundred years ago, when World War III ended; after the atomic bombs, mustard gas, and weaponized diseases, there was a matter of a few thousand people left alive.

Over the course of the last three hundred years, the numbers have slowly raised into the hundreds of thousands, mostly thanks to The Shade.

As a child, I grew up in fear of The Shade, the ruling faction that controls not only the government, but the military, education, and even religion. They are what allows the civilized world to exist in peace.

I grew up outside of the civilized world though, and I'm not the only one. My family is a part of a faction of people that don't believe in The Shade's rule. We're the rebellion.

Or at least we were.

Teaser 1 for Babies at the Boarder

Rosalie and Maggie glanced at each other.

Rosalie wasn't sure which of them was actually more surprised that the day had finally arrived. The sign on the building, SWAN SONG FASHION– all shiny and new – was what she was looking at, but it was only the start. It had taken almost a solid two years for her to get a property purchased and the building designed, but she finally had her very own store.

Correction, Maggie and she had a store.

“You going to come inside, or are you two just going to stand outside and admire the sign?” Morrigan asked as she opened the door.

Rosalie glanced at Morrigan, her oldest of six kids. Morrigan was the spitting image of her when she'd been eighteen, but she had her father's attitude. Blunt, sarcastic, and not the least bit polite. Her daughter would be going to off to college to start working towards a degree in law enforcement.

She still wasn't sure how she felt about her daughter following in her husband's footsteps, but she couldn't exactly stop her, besides it wasn't like her daughter was ever going to go into fashion...

No, that was going to be her oldest son.

Rosalie still suspected her two eldest must have had their identities transplanted somehow as kids. After all, weren't boys supposed to go into law enforcement and girls into fashion?

She knew that sounded outdated, but the fact that her Sebastian – with his bleached white hair that was gelled so much that it stuck up, solid black clothing, and nose piercing – was actually a bit of a fashion genius still totally blew her mind.

“Come on, your daughter is getting impatient,” Maggie said.

Rosalie rolled her eyes in exasperation but headed to the doors to go inside her store.

By the Law Teaser

This story is not going to be officially posted for awhile still, but the plot bunny has been plaguing me for long enough now that I decided to write the first scene out and share it.

Enjoy... or don't.

By the Law

Disclaimer: I am not Stephenie Meyer and sadly won't ever own the rights to the Twilight Saga. Unfortunately for me, my mind is like a sieve that enjoys ruining the characters from her saga's lives.

AN: There are a lot of Mafia Fics out there which romanticize the familial bonds that are part of that life without focusing on, or even point out the much darker nature of mafia life. If this is what you're looking for from me, then you are going to be sadly disappointed. This story will deal with Edward Antonio Cullaro, the son of the mafia boss, Carlisle Cullaro, who falls in loves with his personal bodyguard, Jasper Whitlock. Fair warning, there is no HEA in this story.

Prologue

“This is the man I was telling you about, son,” Carlisle said as they stepped into the warehouse on the dock.

“The fag who was cheating on his wife?” Edward asked, keeping his voice cold and collected.

“Yes.”

Edward looked down at the man large man with the broad should who was tied up on the floor in such a way that there was never going to be any escape. He vaguely recognized him, but he wasn't sure why, he knew he'd never actually seen the man.

“Who is he, again?”

“Emmett Swarno, your fiancee's brother.”

Old mafia just like his family then. The man never should have let himself get caught.

It was funny, proclivities such as the one Aro Volturino back in Italy had, with his preference for teenagers, was completely ignored. But being gay was a major no. It was why he was marrying Isabella. No one could ever know that his own desires ran in the same style as the man in front of him.

“Allow me.” Edward held his hand out to his father.

He noticed out of the corner of his eye as his old man smiled, placing the gun in his hand. Edward raised the gun as he walked a few steps closer to the man who was trying to shout from behind his gag. He pulled the trigger, feeling the blow-back of blood and brain matter as the man fell to his side, dead.

The Workplace Teaser

I have an upcoming one-shot in the works called The Workplace, a Fred/Tanya tale, here's a brief teaser of the opening:

Fred wasn't the type of guy who got out all that much. He woke up every morning, took a piss, showered, brushed his teeth, got dressed, and headed into work at the high rise to take customer service calls. At the end of his eight hour work day, which often kept him closer to twelve, he'd head home to eat and then sleep. From there, it was simply a case of rinse and repeat. Even on his days he was supposed to have off, he was usually in the high rise working.

It wasn't a glamorous life but it was his, and it paid the bills. At the end of the day, that was main thing that mattered to him.

Other people were in it for the glory or the adventure, but he was simply the type of guy who liked to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. Sure, someday, somehow, he intended to eventually run the company he'd worked at as an agent for the last decade – everyone needed a long term goal. But he was realist, and it was all about the day to day for him.

Fred was the kind of guy most people considered to be strictly average, even though he was taller than most. He stood at six foot four with unkempt light brown hair – no matter the amount of product he put in it – hazel eyes, a face a little too oblong, and the tiniest amount of fat. As a general rule, he wasn't handsome, but he wasn't bad looking either, he was just... average.

Like many guys who fell under that same qualification, his hand was his best friend. Women typically weren't interested in him, preferring the type of guy he'd never be. He wasn't the one who'd don a leather jacket and sit atop a chopper just to give a girl a ride, nor was he the type to whips and chains – that was more of Emmett's thing, his big brother.

It wasn't that he wasn't interesting if someone took a chance to know him. It was simply that no one ever bothered to try.

In all honesty, his last girlfriend been almost two years ago, and Bree had taken off the instant their relationship had gotten serious.

Newest Shift Teaser

A brief teaser of the upcoming one-shot from me, Newest Shift:

Fifteen years ago, I'd planned to take off and never set foot in or near La Push ever again, unfortunately for me that plan never got to occur. Every time I'd gotten close to making my dream a reality, something else had happened to make me put it off – for just another month, or another six months, or another year. After ten years of trying and failing, I'd finally given up the dream.

Sam had been the first shifter to stop – officially – shifting about ten years prior, though he often still turned about once a year or so. Still, with him no longer acting as alpha, the pack had been swallowed up as all being under Jacob and myself.

The thing was though, eventually, it would all be mine. For now, Jacob stayed in La Push with Renesmee and their kids, but the Cullens had already moved up to Vancouver – the closest they'd ever moved when changing identities – in an effort to stay in Charlie's life for as long as possible. But eventually Renesmee and Jacob would leave too. And though technically wolf telepathy didn't seem to have a limit, the pack wouldn't be able to stay strong with a wayward leader.

Jake and I never discussed it, not even in our heads, but we both knew when he moved the pack would need to be passed down to his second – his beta – me. It was a terrifying thought, because though I'd given up on my dream, being a wolf forever wasn't exactly something I wanted.

Rebirth and Affliction Future Teaser

A small teaser of a scene from a future chapter in Rebirth and Affliction:

For a moment, I was completely frozen. Even though I'd begun to suspect Victor was behind everything and though we'd guessed he had been turned, I'd never expected to see him here at this camp site.

I wasn't afraid of Victor or Raven. In spite of Archie's warning on the note all those months ago, Raven with her stark purple hair didn't concern me in the slightest. It was the third one in the entourage who terrified me. Not because I thought I couldn't successfully kill him as I was sure I could. After all, he couldn't even be a month to this life, but I wasn't sure if I'd be able to live with myself after I did it.

Selfishly, I wished he was down in the clearing where our family fought for their lives - where the wolves were - so his ashes wouldn't be on my hands.

Edythe crouched down near me, preparing to strike our foes.

I closed my eyes and pushed the emotional turmoil in my head to the side. I could deal with it later.

My eyes snapped open as I reached my hand out and placed it for half a second on Edythe's arm. "Be careful," I murmured. "I'll handle Allen."

My eyes snapped to his as I slid down into a crouch of my own.

Forever Protector Teaser 2

A small teaser of Forever Protector:

The legends stayed with me after we left the bonfire up on the cliff and walked along the beach.

“Is all of that why you believe I was meant to be your imprint?” I asked slowly, mostly unwilling but needing to know the answer, no matter what.

Jules didn't answer me immediately, kicking a rock with her feet as we continued a walk. Finally she shrugged and said, “Maybe, I don't know, Beau. I can't really begin to explain it. All I know is that you're important to me... and that I love you. And I know hearing those words makes you uncomfortable, but I can't really deny them.”

I sighed. “Jules, you know I should leave, don't you? It's wrong of me to stay. Our feeling are different, and eventually others are going to get old enough to shift. If me – my kind – truly cause it... Well staying here is the last thing I should do.”

“I disagree.”

I arched an eyebrow at her, I'd never heard her give a different theory for why they turned.

“Not about you being the cause of us shifting, but you leaving because of it. The world's changing, Beau. I can feel it. There's what, over twenty newborn vampires in Seattle? We still don't know what they're being made for... I think our tribe needs to change with the changes of the world, which means we're going to continue to need protectors. You cause us to turn, so you need to be here.”

“Is that even fair on the next generation? They potentially have a chance at a normal life.”

“It's about the same as asking if love is fair or war... or any number of other subjects.” She shrugged again. “Stay, Beau. You have nowhere else to really go anymore, and you will do good here.”

“I already promised to stay for the night.”

“I know, but I want you to stay permanently.”

I closed my eyes momentarily. “I can't promise forever, Jules, and their may come a day when you don't want this half relationship that we seem to be stuck in. Let's just take it one day at a time.”

Forever Protector Teaser

Currently Forever Protector is the favorite on the poll. I'm not sure how soon I'll get it written, but below is a small teaser of it.

There was a constant pull in the back of my mind reminding me of everything I'd lost, all because of my own stubbornness, but I constantly pushed it aside. It was anything but easy, however, after over thirty years in La Push with Embrianna and Jules it was my norm.

They were only two wolves from the original pack of ten still shifting. The last hold out other than them had been Leland and he'd shifted to his wolf form and run off into the forest almost two years ago.

Not that there weren't other shifters because there were. Samantha's oldest two daughters were now pack members, along with Paula's daughter, and Jaelyn's twin boys. It seemed that as long as a threat was in the area, shifters continued to turn... and with me living in the little cabin on the outskirts of La Push as the first line of defense, there was always a threat in the area. Me.

I smelled Jules before she wrapped her arms around my waist and put her chin on my shoulder, checking to see what I was looking at.

"How's Leila?" I murmured.

"She's a fifteen year old brand new shifter. So she's volatile and angry and feeling betrayed. She hates both of us and I can't blame her."

I sighed, but I couldn't really disagree with that assessment. "So she knows everything then?"

"Yeah, every bitter detail."

Serial Black Widow Teaser

A small sneak peek at my future one-shot, Serial Black Widow:

“My name is Bella Montgomery, and I'm a murderer.”

It was almost funny for me to say those words aloud, but they were true. The first person I'd ever killed had been Embry Call – of course, given that he hadn't been human, calling that first killing a murder was debatable.

But I was getting ahead of myself, or possibly behind myself, because I was currently looking in my bathroom mirror and carefully applying the makeup that would make me look far more heart broken than I actually was, because I had a funeral to go to.

Ten years ago, I'd been a normal teenage girl, and I'd been infatuated with love – or possibly just the idea of it – but then my heart had been torn out by the man, the vampire, that I'd fallen for. In the months that had followed his leaving, I'd drowned. Eventually I'd given up on the idea of living and went to find a place that had once been special for both the man I had loved and myself – our meadow – wanting to find a place to die in peace.

Affliction and Life Teaser Scene

The following is a very small teaser from the final book in my continuation of Stephenie Meyer's Life and Death. The book is to be called Affliction and Life. This scene does not show any spoilers. It's just to make you curious:

I ignored the man that had just greeted me, looking at the two women in their simple dresses.

"I thought you told me you were going to take care of him."

I could feel the eyes of my family on my back, even as the two women in front of me shared a look. I ignored my family as I waited on an answer from my acquaintances.

"And we did," the shorter of the two finally replied.
