The Beast - Prologue

Prologue

He pulled himself to his full height.

The shewolf should have known better than to run from him, it wasn't as if the little healer could possibly have outrun him - and especially not on a full moon. She was nothing more than some hundred generation bloodborn, weak and inconsequential. He was the second generation of their kind, more powerful and deadly than she'd ever dream of being.

And the only reason he'd stooped to seeking her out was because of a prediction he'd made that she would provide a seer son. As the one true alpha, he had the gift himself, but it was a taxing ability he avoided using as much as possible. With another gifted as a seer, he could use them for the gift and no longer use his own.

So he'd hunted her down, and when she'd shifted and fled, he'd chased. In all honesty, the thrill of the chase had only heightened the experience as he'd used his maw to hold her down to the ground by her throat and taken what was his by rights.

He was sure humans would scream and beat their chests in disgust, claiming he'd raped her and so on, but they couldn't possibly understand the way of his world. And in his world, his word was law.

The fact that the child she would carry and give birth to would end in her own death wasn't even a minor upset to him.

He looked down at her form, still shivering on the ground, for a mere moment before he turned and walked way - once again on two feet.

  1. Well, oh S**t. That's brutal. But I'll still read it. To good of an intro not to.
